Dingyuan argues that a Dunhuang manuscript kept in the Dunhuang Academy, 敦研 178v, is a version of the "Sūtra of eight teachers" 八師經, even though its wording is quite different from the parallel, canonical translation found in the Ba shi jing 八師經 T581 attributed to Zhi Qian. Based on a record in LDSBJ, Dingyuan argues that this version represented by Dunyan 178v was translated by *Dharmaratna 竺曇無蘭.
