Silk argues that the Shi'er toutuo jing 十二頭陀經 T783 was "assembled in China", "largely from parts that at least its compilers believed to be of genuine Indian origin" (123). In a short Appendix, Radich argues that internal phraseological evidence, including particular Chinese renderings of formulae, make it most likely that the text was compiled in its present form in the fifth century.
