As reported by Sengyou in the portion of CSZJJ entitled 新集安公疑經錄, a Bao rulai jing 寶如來經 is listed as one of twenty-six "dubious" 疑 sūtras by Dao'an in his Zongli zhongjing mulu 綜理衆經目錄. In an interlinear note, Sengyou provides the alternate title Bao rulai sanmei jing 寶如來三昧經. It would be easy, on this basis, to identify this title with the Bao rulai sanmei jing T637. However, T637 is an alternate translation of the same text as 無極寶三昧經 T636, ascribed to Dharmarakṣa, and is therefore unlikely to be a Chinese composition. As summarised by Li Sujie (2007), all other catalogues take T637 as a genuine translation. Sengyou’s statement that Bao rulai sanmei jing is an alternate title for Bao rulai jing may thus be in error. Entry author: Michael Radich |
