He has no biography in GSZ, but some details about his activities can be known from several sources preserved in CSZJJ: Dao'an's 道安 preface to a combined exposition of two versions of the Pañcaviṃśatisāhasrikā prajñāpāramitā 合放光光讚略解序, T2145:55.47c29-48b21; an anonymous postface to the (lost) translation of the Śūraṃgamasamādhi-sūtra 首楞嚴經 by Zhi Shilun 支施崙 and Bo Yan 帛延; 49b18 ff.; and the anonymous 漸備經十住胡名并書敘 62a3 ff.
