Miyazaki notes that according to the T apparatus, in all versions of the text except the Shōgozō 聖, the title of this text is supposed to read 文殊支利普超三昧經, but states that in fact, according to his investigations, no known pre-modern version of the text features this title. The title usually reads, rather, 文殊師利普超三昧經, and he suggests that the reading -支- was a typo introduced in the Shukusatsu and carried over to T. He notes further that transcriptions 文殊師利 or 文殊 are not used a single time within the text itself, and all reports of the text in catalogues are missing this element in the title. He therefore believes that the original title of the text at the time of translation was 普超三昧經.
