[Willemen 2013] Willemen, Charles. “Guṇabhadra and Bodhidharma: Remarks about Their School Affiliation.” Pacific World, third series, 15 (2013): 33-52. — 37-38 |
Willemen includes 八吉祥經 T430 in a list of thirteen texts ascribed to Guṇabhadra by Sengyou in CSZJJ. He cites further details about the translation from Zhisheng's KYL T2154:55.528b231-22. He also suggests that the text “may be of Gandhāran Mahāsāṅghika origin”. He argues that the Taishō attribution to 僧伽婆羅 (which he reconstructs as Saṅghavarman) is erronous. Willemen also notes that Sengyou includes a postface which Willemen regards as ascribing T430 to Guṇabhadra; T2145:55.68a2-8. Entry author: Michael Radich |

[Fei 597] Fei Changfang 費長房. Lidai sanbao ji (LDSBJ) 歷代三寶紀 T2034. — T2034 (XLIX) 113a5, 58b8, 91b19-20, 98b20 |
Records in LDSBJ relating to T427 and T430 (and possibly related texts; cf. T428, T429, T431) are complex and difficult to disentangle. The title is listed as anonymous in Fascicle 13 of LDSBJ. A closely related title ascribed to Zhi Qian, referring to the Gu lu: 八吉祥經一卷(見古錄亦有呪). A supposed second translation ascribed to Guṇabhadra, citing Sengyou and Baochang (cf. CSZJJ T2145 [LV] 12c22, 68a2-8). A very similar title, 八吉祥經, is also ascribed to *Saṅghabhara (cf. T430). Entry author: Michael Radich |

[Sakaino 1935] Sakaino Kōyō 境野黄洋. Shina Bukkyō seishi 支那佛教精史. Tokyo: Sakaino Kōyō Hakushi Ikō Kankōkai, 1935. — 111 |
Sakaino suggests that the Duoluoni ju zhou jing 陀羅尼句咒經 (Chi ju shenzhou jing 持句神咒經 T1351), the Hua ji tuoluoni zhou jing 華積陀羅尼咒經 T1356, the Ba jixiang jing 八吉祥經 T430, and the Fa lü jing 法律經 (Fa lü sanmei jing 法律三昧經 T631) ascribed to Zhi Qian in LDSBJ were taken from Sengyou’s “continuation to the catalogue of anonymous translations” 續失譯錄 in CSZJJ, and are not Zhi Qian’s translations.
