Zürcher argues that An Shigao’s Ahan koujie shi’er yinyuan jing 阿含口解十二因緣經 T1508 is one of a group of twenty-nine texts which can be considered “genuine” Han translations. Zürcher reaches this conclusion by a “critical selection” process which requires reliable bibliographic attribution, alongside corroborating evidence from glosses, colophons, prefaces, or commentaries; as well as internal “terminological and stylistic analysis” to identify distinctive features particular to certain translator’s teams. He adds that T1508 is “commonly, but no doubt wrongly, attributed to An Xuan;” Dao’an’s attribution to An Shigao is supported by terminology. The text is “an exegetical work explaining, inter alia, the Chain of Causation, the composition and functions of the body, the elements as the causes of diseases etc.”

In Sengyou's Chu sanzang ji ji, a title possibly corresponding to T1508 is regarded as an anonymous translation, that is to say, it is listed in the "Newly Compiled Continuation of the Assorted List of Anonymous Translations" 新集續撰失譯雜經錄 (juan 4):

According to Hayashiya, Sengyou’s CSZJJ recorded that Dao’an ascribed the Ahan kou jie shi’er yinyuan jing 阿含口解十二因縁經 T1508 to An Shigao 安世高. This ascription was accepted by major catalogues such as Fajing and Jingtai. However, LDSBJ ascribed the text to An Xuan 安玄, claiming that the word An Hou 安侯 in the alternate name of the text, An Hou kou jie 安侯口解, actually referred to An Xuan, not An Shigao. This ascription to An Xuan was taken up by KYL, and then by the Taishō. Hayashiya rejects it because there is no evidence that the word An Hou referred to An Xuan, and the tone and vocabulary of T1508 are highly likely to be indeed An Shigao’s. Hayashiya concludes that T1508 should be re-ascribed, following Dao’an, to An Shigao (389-395).

Sakaino's discussion of the Ahan kou jie shi'er yinyuan jing 阿含口解十二因緣經 T1508 (p. 65) is somewhat unclear, but he seems to maintain the following: Catalogues such as LDSBJ and KYL are incorrect in rejecting the ascription of 阿含口解 to An Shigao and ascribing it to An Xuan 安玄 instead. The status of the ascription to An Shigao remains undetermined, strictly speaking, as Sengyou records that according to Dao’an, the 阿含口解 is one of the four scriptures that “seem like” An Shigao’s works 似世高撰也.

Elsewhere (p. 752), Sakaino states that T1508 is listed in CSZJJ with the title Ahan kou jie 阿含口解. The ascription to An Xuan was first given by LDSBJ, and Sakaino claims that DTNDL 大唐内典錄 is probably correct rejecting the ascription to An Xuan, on the basis of an alternate title stating that it was an oral commentary or exposition delivered by An: 一云安侯口解經或云安玄譯據題不爾 (2149 [LV] 223b10-11).

Kamata states that the ascriptions to Yan Fotiao 嚴佛調 for the Ahan kou jie 阿含口解, the Shi’er yinyuan jing 十二因縁經 [cf. 阿含口解十二因縁經 T1508 ascribed to 安玄and 嚴佛調], and the Pusa nei xi liu poluomiduo jing 菩薩内習六波羅蜜經 (T778) are incorrect, claiming that the only translation work of Yan Fotiao is the Ugra-paripṛcchā 法鏡經 T322, which he co-translated with An Xuan 安玄.

[Jiu lu CSZJJ]  Jiu lu 舊錄 as reported by CSZJJ 出三藏記集 T2145.

In his catalogue of anonymous texts in Facicle 4 of CSZJJ, Sengyou cites a/the Jiu lu 舊錄 as evidence for 110 titles, including items he states are extant, and also items he marks "presently missing". This shows that each such title, being listed in the Jiu lu, was extant by whatever date that catalogue was compiled. It also means, conversely, if the date of any of these texts can be determined, that the Jiu lu must date at earliest after those texts. Texts among these which appear to possibly be extant are as follows, here listed alongside the ascriptions given in the present Taishō to the possibly corresponding texts (note that this comparison serves in several cases mainly to show how tenuous the T ascriptions must be, if the texts in question are indeed those listed in CSZJJ 4):
